Analysis Dragon Age: Origins

Long time ago that a game was not catching me so much like Dragon Age Origins. And to say that having played in last months qualifications as Uncharted 2 or I Pull 3: ODST is a quite forceful affirmation …

Of the Bioware excellence in the RPG it is possible to discover little at this point. Games like Mass Effect, Jade Empire or The Gentlemen of the Antigua Republic speak for themselves about the capacity of this study. And Dragon Age: Origins not desmerece to none of the previous ones.

Centring on his version for console (low in both cases, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3,), the game presents a somewhat coarse graphic aspect to that of PC. Textures poor in stages and personages, mediocre graphic effects (the interaction does not exist, for example, with the grass of the environment that yes existed in Jade Empire), are the common denominator. Nevertheless, the sensation at the time of playing is quite solid, possibly for the good framerate and the big design of the personages and his animations (especially the facial ones, as it has being a custom in Bioware), it doing that the graphic limitations do not steam up the game experience.

In the sonorous aspects we meet, perhaps, the biggest disappointment of this game: it has not been doubled to the Castilian. And the fact is that when two personages who are to your back initiate a conversation binding to stop you and turn round you to see his sandwiches with dialogue and to understand what they say, the thing turns out to be somewhat disturbing. Otherwise, a good dubbing to English (very good, to be completely sincere), a suitable sound-track and effects of competent sounds complete this paragraph.

Changing third, at the time of speaking of jugabilidad, duration and entertainment is when we find the motives for which it turns out to be so easy that the hours happen flying in Ferelden. In Dragon Age: Origins we submerge in a big history, with a memorable personages cast and, what is even more important, enough election freedom as to change almost completely our experience I play in every new game.

The selection of genre, race and origin (from a noble dwarf to an urban elf, passing for the inevitable magicians) they determine both the first hours of the game and, of course, our characteristics and skills. But, in addition to that, the reactions of the diverse personages that we are along the game are based on the above mentioned origin, providing with proper personality every protagonist.

During the development of the history we will be adding new personages our group, as it is of waiting. With even some of them we will be able to support a physical relation, certainly, as well as gain access to diverse personal missions as our friendship with they and the decisions that we have taken along the game. An incentive more game perfectly fitted into his context, not the species of cheap sexual claim that some half general practitioners seem to have understood.

Leaving aside the multiple secondary missions, the structure of the game is the classic one of the qualifications of Bioware, in such a way that in every principal mission we will be able to choose for several alternatives of resolution (that will usually imply the detriment of a certain faction at the cost of other one) and, the same way, the end of the game will be defined by these decisions (and for others, of which I am not going to spoil anything to you, of course). Only to say to you that, for example, there is an achievement / trophy that consists of obtaining 4 ends different from the game.

In the combat way we handle in real-time one of four personages of our group who appear simultaneously on screen, but we can happen in any moment to another member of the team, as well as predetermine his behavior before certain circumstances or interrupt the game and give him the orders that we consider to be opportune. The options are immense, the truth, and the level of difficulty that we choose will allow us to center so much on the only personage in real-time during the battle as, on the contrary, to raise of more tactical and calm form every situation. From my point of view the whole wise move, since it allows the first light game in which you are receiving multiple possibilities before becoming absorbed in an authentic tactical challenge and of resources management and personages (in any case, I do not recommend to you the car level of your partners, since they are praised usually by the skills that have less interest for support personages).

As for the duration, in the level of minor difficulty, advancing without stopping too much in secondary missions, it is possible to complete the game in little more than 20 hours. The outstanding thing, nevertheless, is that scarcely you have finished that one first divided possibly you will want to begin other one. A new origin, new decisions, to change the target of your desire, to manage better your resources, to raise the difficulty level, etc. The sleep of all that we pay a pasta for these games as soon as they go on sale, we go. The only negative point is that, after completing the game, we will not be able to keep on walking ourselves for Ferelden, and we will be able only to gain access to the missions that come with the content descargable (the current one and the future).

Another interesting point of the game is that, as it was already doing Epic with Gears of War 2 in his moment, we will find in his box the codes of discharge of three new objects, an armor compatible with future Mass Effect 2 and of a secondary mission with a new personage (let's buy the normal edition or the collector). It is clear that the movement claims two things: to "force" the pirates to pay for the above mentioned content (the mission is of payment if you do not have the code … almost 15 euros) and, in turn, to limit the value of a second-hand copy of the game. A decision that, from my point of view, is quite coherent with the current situation of the market of the video games. He would not be able already to say if it will have turned out or not, clearly. Also either there is available another content pack descargable (here either yes that we might discuss the porqué it is not included by the game if it has gone on sale simultaneously) and they have announced new discharges to themselves for the next two years.

In conclusion, it is necessary to recognize that Dragon Age: Origins is a RPG of excellent action. It does not stop having his defects and limitations, especially if we compare the console version with that of PC, but it is of these games that they achieve that his many virtues erase of your mind everything the others, even the real world. Much more "classic" than Mass Effect but the same way memorable.

And now there comes the moment of the big end, skylight. What note is it necessary to him to put to a game like that?. Objectively I think that something between 8.5 and 9 would be the most just thing. Subjectively, especially if you cannot gain access to the PC version, it looks like to me a game almost of 10. It is clear that, then, the game in PC should take 11 or something like that. Let's leave it then in …

Final note: 9
